Abstract
This research aimed to determine the relationship between public investment in tourism projects and local economic development in the province of Cañete. This research stems from the need to study how the distribution of public resources allocated to tourism can foster economic growth at the local level, particularly in areas with significant tourism potential such as Cañete. The quantitative approach of the study allowed for the objective measurement of perceptions and effects related to the variables studied. It was a basic, correlational study. Furthermore, a non-experimental, cross-sectional design was employed, in which data were collected on a single occasion. For this purpose, the hypotheticodeductive method was used, Formulating hypotheses about the degree of significant correlation between public investment and economic development, which were later statistically tested. The target population consisted of 240,013 people. A representative sample of 360 individuals was selected, allowing For results with appropriate inferential validity. The data were processed using Spearman's rho test, yielding a correlation coefficient of 0.617, indicating a moderately high positive relationship between the variables. Furthermore, the p-value of 0.000, which is les than the significance level of 0.05, allowed for the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1) and the rejectionof the null hypothesis (H0).Consequently, it isconcluded that there is a statistically significant correlation between public investment in tourism projects and local economic development in the province of Cañete.
